Scoring attendance from a team of South Africa’s premier sporting stars, ExecuJet welcomed children from local community schools to an event held on Mandela Day, 18th July 2017, the international day of commemoration for treasured politician and philanthropist Nelson Mandela. Coaching the children through a day of activities at ExecuJet’s facility at Lanseria International Airport, seven NBA players, including NBA Africa MD Amadou Gallo Fall, led the action. They were accompanied by members of South Africa’s rugby players’ organisation MyPlayers, as well as Springbok & Lions prop Julian Redelinghuys and Lions centre Howard Mnisi. The staff at PUMA South Africa’s Johannesburg branch also packed 100 Mnandi Meals on Mandela Day, to distribute to the children at the event. Gys van Zyl, rugby sponsorship manager for PUMA delivered the meals with a smile and joined in the sporting fun.
Raising excitement levels to fever pitch, Supersport presenter and ‘It girl’ Minnie Dlamini also attended the event, as well as Ben Motshwari, soccer player for Bidvest Wits, who joined band members from Rubber Duc to finish off the day of fun, food, and festivities.
ExecuJet’s Mandela Day event is the latest in the business aviation organisation’s mission to inspire change and take action in local communities. Embracing Mandela’s belief that sport has the power to change to world, ExecuJet Africa’s Aviation Director and Accountable Manager Gavin Kiggen says: “At ExecuJet we pride ourselves on being good corporate citizens wherever we’re based around the globe. By hosting this event, we aim to inspire these children to pursue their sporting goals and fulfil their potential.”
This event accompanies donations by ExecuJet dedicated to improving the facilities of Johannesburg’s community schools, with an ongoing funded fire awareness programme through Akunamlilo Fire Fighters, taking off in five pre-school classes and 23 classrooms.
