above™, a new UK-based entry jet provider focused on domestic and European on-demand executive charter flights, has completed the re-registration of its first aircraft, an Embraer Phenom 100. Previously listed on the German registry and operated by Arcus Air, the aircraft now carries the registration G-FABV for Fly Above, marking an important milestone in the company’s launch preparations.
The path to service entry has taken longer than initially expected, according to Founding CEO Vince Essex, due to regulatory matters requiring review by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The aircraft is currently undergoing engineering work and inspection at Inflite Engineering at London Stansted Airport as part of the CAA’s change program. Fellow Embraer operator SaxonAir, based in Norwich Airport, has been engaged to support continuing airworthiness management (CAMO).
“We are a couple of months behind but do hope for service entry in early May, ahead of the peak summer period,” said Vince Essex. “Commercially, we’ve been actively strengthening our foundations for launch, finalizing competitive city-pair pricing strategy to ensure a strong market entry.”
The company has selected XLR Executive Jet Centres in Birmingham as its home base, strategically located between London and Manchester. In addition to executive charter flights, the operator plans to support airline operations, including AOG parts transport, crew movements, and medical flights.
Configured with four club seats, the Phenom 100 is positioned as a lean jet alternative to scheduled services, offering flexible point-to-point travel across the UK and Europe.
