Million Air Austin FBO and fuel supplier Avfuel Corporation have partnered to expand sustainable aviation operations at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport with the introduction of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The SAF, which entered service on November 20, 2025, offers a tangible solution for operators aiming to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from flight operations. This milestone marks the first SAF location in Texas for both companies, providing a reliable SAF supply tailored to the airport’s business and general aviation traffic.

Sourced in Texas, the SAF features a targeted blend of 30% neat SAF and 70% traditional jet fuel. Each 8,000-gallon truckload delivers a 19-metric-ton reduction in carbon emissions over its lifecycle compared to conventional petroleum-based jet fuel—equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 19.1 acres of U.S. forest per year. In its neat (pre-blended) form, SAF can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% versus traditional jet fuel.

This initiative supports Million Air’s Beyond Green sustainability program, a company-wide commitment to responsible aviation practices. The Beyond Green platform integrates renewable energy investments, facility efficiency improvements, and lower-emission fuel options, including SAF, across Million Air’s network. With this launch, Million Air Austin joins Million Air Albany (KALB), which partnered with Avfuel to introduce SAF earlier this summer.

Produced from renewable, sustainably sourced waste materials such as used cooking oil, SAF is a drop-in fuel solution. Once blended with conventional jet fuel, it meets ASTM D1655 specifications and performs to the same standards—requiring no modifications to aircraft, fueling infrastructure, or handling procedures.
