Neste and World Fuel Services have extended their existing partnership through a new five-year agreement, significantly expanding the availability of Neste-supplied sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across more than 100 airports in World Fuel’s UK and European network.
The agreement strengthens World Fuel’s ability to secure reliable SAF supply while complying with evolving regulatory frameworks, including the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and the UK SAF mandate. Through World Fuel’s European distribution network, SAF will be accessible to commercial, business and general aviation customers, ensuring broader market availability.
This collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship, combining World Fuel’s aviation fuel distribution and infrastructure expertise with Neste’s advanced SAF production and supply capabilities. A key component is Neste’s renewable fuels refinery in Rotterdam, currently capable of producing up to 500,000 tons of SAF annually.
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is a renewable alternative to conventional fossil-based jet fuel, offering significantly lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. When using neat (unblended) Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™, lifecycle GHG emissions can be reduced by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. The fuel is produced from 100% renewable waste and residue raw materials, including used cooking oil and animal fat waste.
Certified for commercial use, SAF can currently be blended up to 50% with conventional jet fuel and functions seamlessly with existing aircraft engines and fueling infrastructure. Today, Neste’s global SAF production capacity stands at 1.5 million tons (approximately 515 million gallons) per year, with plans to increase to 2.2 million tons (around 750 million gallons) annually by 2027.
