London Biggin Hill announced the creation of 2,300 new jobs at the airport within the next twenty years as part of its LoCATE strategy (London Center for Aviation, Technology and Enterprise). LoCATE is a partnership of public and private sector organizations promoting London Biggin Hill as a primary center for the aerospace industry in the capital. It sets out London Biggin Hill’s vision for a sustainable future for both the airport and the local community by investing in infrastructure, skills development, training and job creation. As part of the Mayor’s Draft London Plan, London Biggin Hill is a designated Strategic Outer London Development Centre (SOLDC). The plan describes how business aviation will complement and contribute to London’s economy. Mayor Sadiq Khan has said: “London Biggin Hill has emerged as a leading business in the South East and is one of the most important pioneers of the business aviation sector in the UK… it is proving a very sound investment for those choosing to base there.” Robert Walters, Business Development Director at London Biggin Hill Airport, says: “As part of our growth strategy we are aiming to break new ground on several major projects in 2018, including an on-site airport hotel and a London Aerospace and Technology College. These two projects will further strengthen our position as London’s leading business aviation hub and will inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals.”
