The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Gogo its first Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for a fuselage-mount installation of the Galileo HDX antenna. The approval was secured in partnership with Trimec Aviation, an FAA-certified MRO and avionics provider, following installation on a Gulfstream G200 aircraft.
This marks the first FAA approval in North America for a low-Earth-orbit (LEO) electronically steered antenna (ESA) fuselage mount. Leveraging the Eutelsat OneWeb constellation, Gulfstream G200 operators will gain global, high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity, enhancing productivity, entertainment, and reliability across all flight routes.
The flat-panel HDX antenna also adds network redundancy to ensure consistent, uninterrupted coverage worldwide.
“We’re incredibly excited to receive the STC for installing the Gogo Galileo HDX system on the Gulfstream G200 platform,” said Peter Rabadi, VP of development at Trimec Aviation. “The HDX terminal opens new possibilities for G200 operators, offering enhanced situational awareness, improved reliability, and next-generation connectivity for both the flight deck and cabin.”
Upgrade pathway: The retrofit installation requires only two units — the fuselage-mounted ESA and the AVANCE SCS platform — providing operators with a future-proof solution that safeguards long-term investments.
