Gulfstream recently delivered a US Navy G550 EITAM designed for Conformal Airborne Early Warning (CAEW) missions. Designed and modified with Boeing and Gulfstream working in partnership, this aircraft will have telemetry data collection systems and sensors to support various missions such as tracking flight tests of naval missiles and rockets. The EITAM will be implemented by the VX-30 Bloodhounds evaluation squadron, based in Point Mugu which currently operates 5 NP-3D Orions. The G550 was preferred to the Challenger 605, specifically due to antenna size. This same type of aircraft is already in use by Israel, Italy, Singapore and Australia.
